awesome prayer

Awesome prayer for fellow believers, written by Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:9-14:
Since the day we heard this (your salvation), we haven't stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.
May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints inheritance in the light.
He rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Som He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Dad doing well after 2 strokes.

Just came back from a 2 week stay in Hilo after my Dad had 2 strokes. He's recovering nicely for his age: almost 88! His mind is sharp, but his left arm and leg don't have much feeling, so he is going through OT & PT to get strong enough to return home.

Just found this blog that I created a couple of years ago. Here's an update: I retired from Sears on April 2, 2011. My fine jewelry team gave me this awesome retirement party at Pagoda Hotel with 75 guests! I'm still overwhelmed with their love and generosity.

Interview with Baba Chan Abe, Dec. 1989

Baba Chan's husband (Harukichi Abe) was from Niigata, Japan, located in the mountains on the main island of Honshu. Baba Chan went back with him there after they were married in Hawaii (Baba Chan was 17 yrs. old), and stayed with Ji Chan's family for 18 months. It was so cold that Baba Chan remembers wearing 13 kimonos. It also got so deep with snow that the paths through the snow were like walking between 2 walls higher than your head!

In Niigata they speak a dialect of Japanese which Baba Chan learned from her Mother-in-Law. She still speaks the dialect with a woman at the Senior Citizen's Club. Other members of the senior's club that come from Japan cannot understand what they are saying.

New Frontier

I know what you're thinking: "A blog?  Really, Nancy, a blog?  First facebook and now this?"

Yes, I do indeed have a blog.  And I'm pretty excited about it.  But let's be clear- this isn't going to be your adolescent blog.  There will be no drama, nor will there be any existential crises.  So what's a blog without all that juicy stuff?  Well, I have some stories to share.  Stories steeped in history and imbued with myth.  Tales of my forbearers, to be more exact.  And believe you me, there will be plenty of juicy stuff to go around.
